Subject: Upper Age Limit for Teachers
In accordance with the latest amended Service Rules.
- The Punjab Education Department (School Education) Recruitment Rules 1967.
II) The Punjab Education Department (College Wing Ministerial Posts) Service Rules, 1991
III) The Punjab Education Department (School Wing Ministerial Posts) Service Rules, 1989.
The upper age limit for recruitment to the following posts have since been fixed as indicated against each post:
- P.T.O. Teachers – Up to 50 years
- Class-IV employees (Schools & Colleges) – Up to 45 years
- Secondary School Teachers (S.S.Ts.) – Up to 35 years
- It has been noticed that the contents of the above latest amended rules have not been properly understood by all concerned. Resultantly, cases for relaxation of upper age limits are still coming to this Department wherein the relaxation is actually not required.
- You are requested to please issue necessary instructions to all concerned in your jurisdiction that the upper age limits as indicated above should be observed and where upper age are made in accordance with the above said rules, no further ban is lifted. The applicants within the above said maximum age will not need any relaxation. This may be brought home to all concerned.
