Subject: Public Works Recruitment Rules
No. SOR-III(S&GAD)1-11/2020(A). In exercise of the powers conferred under section 23 of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974 (VIII of 1974), Governor of the Punjab is pleased to make the following amendment in the Punjab Communication and Works Department (Engineering Posts Qualifications and Conditions for Recruitment) Rules, 1985 with immediate effect:
AMENDMENT
In the Punjab Communication and Works Department (Engineering Posts Qualifications and Conditions for Recruitment) Rules, 1985, in the Schedule, against the post of “Assistant Engineer / Sub-Divisional Officer / Assistant Director (BS-17)”, in column 7, for the existing entries, the following shall be substituted:
(i) 65% by initial recruitment;
(ii) 15% by promotion on the basis of seniority-cum-fitness from amongst the Senior Sub-Engineers (BS-16) or Sub-Engineers (BS-14) who:
- possess Bachelor’s degree (second division) in Engineering or B.Sc. Engineering (second division) or Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers or B.Tech (Hons) from an institute recognized by the Higher Education Commission;
- have three years experience in case of B.E. or B.Sc. (Engg.) or Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers or five years experience in case of B.Tech (Hons); and
(iii) 20% by promotion on the basis of seniority-cum-fitness from amongst the Senior Sub-Engineers (BS-16) with ten years service and experience and who possess diploma or certificate of overseer from a recognized institute and passed the Departmental Professional Examination.
If none is available for promotion, then by initial recruitment.
