Clarification – Family Pension to Widower after lapse of 14 years dt 08.09.2020

Subject: Pension to Widower
Please refer to your letter No. PEN-I/Coord/HM-54, dated 30th April, 2020 on the subject noted above.
2. The case has been examined and it is clarified that there is no restriction of time for receiving family pension.
3. Furthermore, the beneficiary in such cases are entitled to family pension from the date of entitlement subject to the condition that evidence of no source of income duly verified by the Pension Sanction Authority and no other family member is entitled during such period.

Find enclosed Finance Department’s clarification bearing No. FD-SR-III-4- 101/2020 dated 08.09.2020 (copy enclosed) in response to this office’s letter No. Pen- I/Coord/HM-54 dated 30.04.2020 regarding payment of arrears of family pension to a widower who had applied for family pension after lapse of 14 years (copy enclosed).
As per the clarification of the Finance Department. “No Source of Income Certificate” and “Certificate for entitlement of no other family member” duly attested and verified by the Pension Sanctioning Authority for payment of arrears of family pension are mandatory for processing of family pension cases and claim of arrears. The claim of arrears for such family pension cases must strictly be processed in line with the clarification.
