kindly refer to your emo.No.PR/Coord/Medical-Fitness/599, dated 18.10.1999, on the subject noted above.
2. According to GOD’s circular dated 12.2.1994, read with rule. 21 of the (Appointment and Conditions of Service) Rules, the production of Medical Certificate is a prerequisite for joining Government service and the date of appointment of the newly recruited persons shall take effect from the date of issuance of Medical fitness certificate by the Competent Authority, Punjab Service Tribunal has, however, held that a Civil servant is entitled to the pay of the post, so long as he remained in service and performed duties of the post. This would help settle the present claims of the officials.
