Subject: Fixation of Pension
It has come to the notice of Finance Department that most of the District Accounts Officers in the Punjab are not aware as to whether increases in pension after restoration are admissible or not to the pensioners who retired under Pay and Pension Package, 2005 and afterwards instead of Pay and Pension Package, 2001.
2. The case has been examined and it is clarified that there is no Pay Package of 2005. The only change made in 2005 was that the maximum limit of commutable pension amount was reduced from 40% to 35% vide this Department’s letter No.FD.PC-2-1/2005 Dated 16th July, 2005. All Pensioners who retired on or after 01.07.2001 and opted to avail Pay and Pension Package, 2001 are entitled for restoration of commuted portion of pension. Refixation of pension of such pensioners is to be dealt with in accordance with para 1 of Government of the Punjab, Finance Department’s letter No-FD-SR-III/5-1/2015 dated 13-04-2017, to the similar pensioners as well. However, no arrears are admissible prior to date of restoration.
