Amendment – Punjab Departmental Examination Rule 2012 dt 17.10.2018

Subject: Departmental Examination
No. SOR-III(S&GAD)1-12/2000(P-I). In exercise of the powers conferred under section 23 of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974 (VIII of 1974), Governor of the Punjab is pleased to direct that in the Punjab Departmental Examination Rules, 2012, the following amendments shall be made:
AMENDMENTS
In the Punjab Departmental Examination Rules 2012, in rule 4:
(a) for sub-rule (1), the following shall be substituted:
“(1) A probationer shall be eligible to appear in four successive examinations to be held immediately after completion of his training from Management and Professional Developmental.”;
(b) for sub-rule (2), the following shall be substituted:
“(2) A probationer who fails to qualify in four successive attempts as provided under sub-rule (1), shall not be eligible to appear in a subsequent examination and shall be deemed to have failed to qualify the examination.
Provided that the Chief Secretary may, on the recommendations of the Additional Chief Secretary, Punjab, allow a probationer one additional chance to appear in the next examination.”;
(c) after sub-rule (6), the following sub-rule (7) shall be inserted:
“(7) A probationer who has exhausted all three chances under the rules before coming into force of these amendments shall be allowed only one more chance to appear in the departmental within one year.
Provided that the Chief Secretary may, on the recommendations of the Additional Chief Secretary, Punjab, allow such a probationer one additional chance to appear in the subsequent examination.”
