Subject: Counting of Ad-hoc Period
Will the Section Officer (Pension), Government of the Punjab, Higher Education Department please refer to his letter No. SO(Pension)1-466/2023, dated 20.03.2023 on the subject noted above.
2. The case has been examined and it is observed that Rule 2.3(ii) of the Punjab Civil Services Pension Rules Provides as under (copy enclosed):-
“Temporary and officiating service followed by confirmation shall also count for pension or gratuity”.
The ad-hoc period w.e.f. 11.02.1996 to 31.08.2003 of Mrs. Farzana Masood, Assistant Professor of History (BS-18), Govt. Associate College for Women, Kahna Nau, Lahore was regularized without any gap by the Competent Authority/Chief Minister in relaxation of Rule-22 of the Punjab Civil Servants (Appointment & Conditions of Service) Rules 1974 vide Order No. SO(CE-III)21-3/2003, dated 30.08.2003. However, the period of EOL (without pay) between termination of ad-hoc appointment and date of joining after regularization will be excluded in terms of Rule 2.7 of Punjab Civil Services Pension Rules (copy enclosed).
