Clarification – Minimum Pension dt 06.08.2020

Subject: Minimum Pension
I am directed to refer your letter No. DAO/BWP/Try (Pen-Online)/ HM/Try/581 dated 12.02.2020 on the subject noted above and confirmation received from the Finance Department vide letter No. FD. SR-III-4-95/2020 dated 18.06.2020.
It is, therefore advised as under:

| 1. Either only 10,000/- per month minimum pension (including Medical Allowance) shall be admissible to the pensioners or Rs. 10,000 + Medical Allowance shall be paid to the pensioner. | Medical Allowance is not the part of pension as per definition of the pension under class-II of rule 1.6 of Punjab Civil Service Pension Rules, 1963. Thus minimum 10,000/- pension means pension without Medical Allowance. |
| 2. Either the payment of minimum self and family pension is subject to deduction of commuted portion (if not restored so far) in case of self or family pensioner? | Minimum pension and family pension will be calculated at respective minimum level irrespective of the net pension or gross pension (commuted portion excluded or restored). |
3. It is, therefore, directed to dispose of the matter accordingly.
