OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: Doctors posted at Cardiology DG Khan
Will the Section Officer (ND), Government of the Punjab, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department kindly refer to his letter No.SO(ND)2- 26/2004(Vol-II), dated 14.02.2024 on the subject noted above?
The case has been examined. In pursuance of approval of Caretaker Provincial Cabinet dated 24.01.2024, Finance Department conveys its concurrence for inclusion of name of newly established Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar Institute of Cardiology, DG. Khan (attached with DG Khan Medical College, DG Khan) in the notification of Health Department, Punjab bearing No.SO(ND)2-26(2004) (Vol-II),dated 27.02.2015 w.e.f. 24.01.2024.
This letter is a response from the Finance Department of the Government of Punjab to a previous letter sent by the Section Officer (ND) of the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department. The purpose of the letter is to officially include a newly established medical institute, the Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar Institute of Cardiology in Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan, in an existing notification of medical institutions under the Punjab Health Department.
Background
The Section Officer had sent a letter on February 14, 2024, requesting that this new cardiology institute be added to an official government notification. This notification was originally issued in 2015 and listed various medical institutions across the province of Punjab. However, because the new institute was only recently established, it was not part of the original list. The institute is also connected to DG Khan Medical College, which is another medical institution in the same city.
Review Process
The Finance Department reviewed this case to ensure everything was in order. They also looked into the approval of the Caretaker Provincial Cabinet, which had already discussed this issue on January 24, 2024. The Caretaker Provincial Cabinet refers to a temporary group of government officials responsible for managing key decisions until a new, permanent government is in place. They had given their approval for including the new cardiology institute in the official records.
Finance Department’s Role
The Finance Department plays an important role in approving decisions like these because they manage the government’s finances and ensure that any new institutions are included in the government’s plans and budgets. After carefully reviewing the request and noting the approval from the Caretaker Provincial Cabinet, the Finance Department agreed with the inclusion of the new cardiology institute in the official government records. They formally “conveyed their concurrence,” which means they officially gave their agreement.
Notification and Timing
The letter mentions that the inclusion of the Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar Institute of Cardiology will be added to an official notification from 2015, which is a document that lists all recognized medical institutions in Punjab. The new institute will be added to this list, making it an official part of the healthcare infrastructure of Punjab.
Even though the letter from the Finance Department was written after the Caretaker Provincial Cabinet’s approval, the inclusion of the institute will be considered effective from January 24, 2024, which is the date the Provincial Cabinet gave its approval. This means the new institute is now legally recognized as of that date.
Conclusion
In summary, the Finance Department has agreed to add the Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar Institute of Cardiology to the Punjab Health Department’s official list of medical institutions. This decision was approved by the Caretaker Provincial Cabinet, and the inclusion is effective from January 24, 2024. The official addition of this institute helps ensure that it receives the necessary government support and recognition to operate fully as part of Punjab’s healthcare system. The Finance Department has officially agreed to include the Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar Institute of Cardiology in the Punjab Health Department’s records, effective from January 24, 2024.
