Subject: Liberalization of Family Pension
I am directed to refer to this Department’s circular letter of even number dated the 25th August, 1983, on the subject noted above and to say that the instructions contained therein shall also apply to the widows/children of deceased Government servants/pensioners who are already in receipt of family pension under the existing rules or are not presently receiving family pension because
(a) their husbands/parents died after receiving pension for a period of 10 years, or
(b) the duration of their family pension under the existing rules has otherwise expired. In the case of those who were not drawing family pension immediately before 1st July, 1983.
The family pension under these orders shall commence from 1st July, 1983. Such families shall receive pension at the rates which they would have received had their entitlement to family pension not expired.
